The main step that should be taken is the unification of accounting and managerial approaches to
intangible assets’ structure, that can be made possible via treating R&D, human and organizational
capital that has been internally generated by the company as investment and add it as the
supplement to company’s balance sheets.

We describe a metaphorical “toolbox” for innovatics – a new set of skills for managers who specialize
in innovation management and in the study of innovations. We emphasize the importance of quantitative skills,
multidisciplinary inspirations and heuristic methods for generatig innovative solutions. Knowledge of
organizational behavior is essential to create in the workplace environment conducive to innovativeness.

We discuss basic components of the business model concept, with particular
emphasis on rigorous and preferably quantitative methods of analysis of business models.
We focus on factors which influence the process of developing customer value proposition
- a crucial part of any business model. We also present an international collaborative
project aimed at developing methods of making existing business models of SMEs more
innovative.
