Team effectiveness analysis based on the team diagnostic survey by Hackman et al.: Development and Testing of the Polish Version
Abstrakt
This paper presents an attempt to apply the Team Diagnostic Survey, an instrument intended
for the evaluation of team performance, in the Polish business environment. Developed by
Professor Richard Hackman from Harvard University and his collaborators, the TDS has been
based on years of research and existing theoretical knowledge on circumstances that foster
team effectiveness. Until now, the instrument has been implemented in the United States of
America, where it has contributed practical insights into performance of more than one
hundred work teams.
In this work particular attention is focused on the preparation and pilot implementation of this
research instrument in Poland. The author presents the description of the TDS, its conceptual
foundation, the empirical properties and the procedure of the data analysis. Then, the issue of
the adaptation process of the TDS, with special emphasis on the translation, is considered.
Finally, empirical testing of the questionnaire is discussed in the context of further
implementation of the TDS in the Central and Eastern Europe.
