Abstract

Cross-section studies of cartels have a long history that both benefits and suffers from the variety of methodological approaches that have been used to examine cartels. This article examines the evidence and results of these varied empirical studies on cartels. It presents a set of facts on cartel stability, dura- tion and profitability based on the findings of the cross-section literature.
