Dotychczasowe badania wskazywały na obecność związków między poczuciem humoru a stresem oraz stylami humoru a wypaleniem zawodowym. Celem niniejszej pracy było sprawdzenie czy istnieje zależność między poziomem poczucia humoru a poziomem wypalenia zawodowego. Badania przeprowadzono wśród 103 nauczycieli szkół podstawowych i liceów. Uczestnicy wypełniali Kwestionariusz Wypalenia Zawodowego MBI Maslach i Wielowymiarową Skalę Poczucia Humoru Thorsona i Powella (1993). Wyniki ujawniły, że nauczyciele o dużym poczuciu humoru w mniejszym stopniu doświadczają syndromu wypalenia zawodowego. Szczególnie ważną rolę w obniżaniu wypalenia zawodowego u nauczycieli pełni umiejętność wykorzystywania humoru w celach społecznych i wykorzystanie humoru jako mechanizmu adaptacyjnego. Omówiono zastosowanie i wskazano perspektywy kolejnych badań.
