Abstract:
One of the most important issues connected with the knowledge-based
economy (KBE) phenomenon is its measuring. There is no one universally
accepted definition of KBE so there is no internationally agreed framework for
measuring the extent to which an economy or society is knowledge-based.
The aim of this article is to propose and try to assess the value of the
indicators, which can be used to measure the knowledge economy in Polish
regions (Voivodships). In the first section of the paper the formal criteria
of choosing indicators are described. In the second part the definitions and
the most popular methodologies of KBE measuring are presented. And in
the last part the author proposes the indicators, which can be used for the
measurement of the regions based on knowledge level.
