Abstrakt
Exchange-Traded Funds są papierami wartościowymi które w swym założeniu mają oferować inwestorom tani sposób na inwestowanie kapitału w indeks bazowy. Niniejsza praca ma na celu zweryfikowanie poprawności tego stwierdzenia. Do analizy wykorzystano dane historyczne z całego okresu życia produktu na polskim rynku oraz informacje udostępnione inwestorom przez Towarzystwa Inwestycyjne. W części badawczej zostały porównane ze sobą notowania zarówno funduszy typu Exchange-Traded Fund jak i typowych funduszy inwestycyjnych. Wynika z nich, że zależność pomiędzy funduszem, a indeksem jest duża, ale niewystarczająca by jednoznacznie stwierdzić, że ETF dokładnie odzwierciedla indeks. Dalsza część analizy skupia się na kosztach związanych z uczestnictwem w tego typu inwestycjach. Wnioskiem płynącym z tej części pracy jest potwierdzenie, że ETF jest najtańszym sposobem inwestowania w indeks.
Exchange-Traded Funds are securities which are assumed to offer its investors a cheap way to invest capital in the underlying index. This paper aims to verify this statement. Historical data from the entire lifetime of the product on the Polish market and the information available to investors by investment companies was used to analyze the subject. In the research part of this paper, Exchange-Traded Fund and the typical investment funds quotations were compared with each other. They show that the relationship between the fund and the index is large, but not big enough to clearly state that fund accurately reflects the index. The rest of the analysis focuses on costs associated with participation in this type of investment. Conclusion drawn from this part of the study confirms that ETF is the cheapest way to invest in the index.
