Over the years, progressive economic changes have contributed in growing importance of the use of marketing and promotion among ski resorts. Most influencing factors responsible for this are increased competition, technological progress and economic development. That is why proper use of promotional tools play an important role towards the success of the ski station. All of this made me intrigued to such extent that I decided to investigate how promotion is carried out by ski resorts in Poland, in contrast to their French counterparts. Therefore the aim of this work is to identify and analyze promotional campaigns of selected Polish and French ski resorts that will determine how effective promotion should look like. This was achieved through interviews carried out personally or by telephone with representatives of selected stations. I managed to determine that between the Polish and the French stations still remains very big difference where the key issue in the case of Polish stations is very poor orientation in promotional activities. It contributes to many complications such as lack of cooperation, improper use of available promotional channels and the reluctance to conduct research related to the results of implemented campaigns. Whereas studies made on activities of French stations identified that for the moment the use of Internet tools gives the best effects. It is important for station to follow the situation in the market and try to keep up with changing trends in society. An example would be moving away from television in favor of social media such as Facebook, where correct use of such media can result in creation of effective campaigns. This work solidified my belief about the variability of promotional activities, where the constant adaptation to new trends allowed me to show only the basic principles associated with their operation.
