Obraz siebie u kobiet po mastektomii

Abstract

Zabieg mastektomii inaczej nazywany amputacją piersi, jest jedną z głównych metod leczenia nowotworu piersi. Niejednokrotnie kobiety, u których dokonano tego typu leczenia doświadczają wielu trudności natury zarówno psychicznej, jak i fizycznej. Celem niniejszej pracy jest ustalenie tego, jaki obraz siebie posiadają kobiety po dokonanym zabiegu mastektomii, dwóch lub jednej piersi, w zależności od minionego okresu od tego zabiegu. Zaprezentowany w pracy program badawczy zrealizowany został za pomocą następujących metod psychologicznych: Test Przymiotnikowy ACL autorstwa G. Gougha i A. B Heilbruna (W wersji Ja – realne i Ja – retrospektywne) oraz Tennessee Skala Obrazu Siebie TSCS W. H. Fittsa. Oprócz tego użyty został Arkusz Personalny własnego autorstwa. W prezentowanych badaniach wzięło udział 78 kobiet, u których dokonano zabiegu amputacji jednej bądź też obu piersi, w wieku od 35 do 75 lat. Ponadto grupę badawczą podzielono na dwie: do pierwszej zaliczały się kobiety, u których zabieg mastektomii miał miejsce poniżej sześciu lat temu, co stanowiło 56,41 % spośród wszystkich respondentek. Z kolei 43,59% kobiet należało do tej grupy, u której zabieg ten miał miejsce powyżej sześciu lat temu. Rezultaty przeprowadzonych badań pozwalają na wyciągnięcie następujących wniosków: Realny obraz własnej osoby kobiet po przebytym zabiegu mastektomii jest bardziej negatywny niż ich retrospektywny obraz siebie. Istnieją różnice w obrazie siebie u kobiet w zależności od czasu, jaki upłynął od zabiegu mastektomii.

An operation of mastectomy called breast amputation is one of the main methods of breast cancer treatment. The women, who have been treated this way, experience a great number of difficulties and discomfort of physical and psychological nature. The aim of this work is to determine what image of themselves the women after a mastectomy operation have, referring to either one or both breasts and depending on time that elapsed from the surgery. The researching project presented in this work was realized by using following psychological methods: Adjective Check List (ACL) by G. Gough and A.B. Heilbrun (Real Me and Retrospective Me versions) and Tennessee Self – Concept Scale (TSCS) by W.H. Fitts. Apart from the tools mentioned above a Personal Questionnaire prepared by the author was used. 78 women between 35 and 75 years old, who underwent a mastectomy treatment of one or two breasts, took part in the project. The researching group was divided into two parts: the first one involved women with a mastectomy experience six years ago and less (it equals 56,41%), the other one (43,59 % women) belonged to the group of those who experienced it at least six years ago. The results allow to conclude that a real personal image of women after a mastectomy operation is more negative than their retrospective picture. There are some differences in their personal image and they are dependent on and influenced by the time that elapsed from a mastectomy operation.
