Abstract

Poczucie sensu życia i stosowane style radzenia sobie mogą być zmiennymi odgrywającymi kluczową rolę w pozytywnej adaptacji do przewlekłej choroby jaką jest zakażenie HIV. Analizie w niniejszej pracy poddano style radzenia sobie ze stresem, jakie stosują osoby zakażone HIV, oraz związki pomiędzy poczuciem sensu życia, a stosowanymi stylami radzenia sobie. Problem główny w niniejszej pracy został sformułowany w postaci pytania: Jaki jest związek pomiędzy poczuciem sensu życia a stylami radzenia sobie ze stresem u osób zakażonych HIV? Badana przeprowadzono wśród 60 osób zakażonych HIV. Analizując wyniki badań należy podkreślić, iż życie z wirusem HIV obniża to poczucie. Nie istnieje zależność pomiędzy poczuciem sensu życia a stylami radzenia sobie ze stresem u osób zakażonych HIV. Zakażeni w wysokim stopniu stosują styl skoncentrowany na emocjach i unikaniu, istnieją różnice w stylach radzenia sobie ze stresem w grupie zakażonych kobiet i mężczyzn. Styl skoncentrowany na unikaniu w większym stopniu wykorzystują mężczyźni, natomiast styl skoncentrowany na zadaniu dominuje u zakażonych kobiet. Psychoedukacja pacjenta zakażonego HIV powinna koncentrować się nad poczuciem własnej wartości, odpowiedzialności za siebie i innych oraz zwiększenia poczucia własnej sprawczości odnośnie ustalania i realizowania celów życiowych. Wszystko to może przyczynić się do zwiększenia poczucia sensu życia oraz stosowania adaptacyjnych stylów radzenia sobie ze stresem u osób z nowo wykrytym zakażeniem HIV.

The sense of meaning in life and the applied coping styles may be variables that play a key role in positive adaptation to a chronic disease such as HIV infection. This study analyzes the styles of coping with stress used by HIV-infected people and the relationship between the sense of meaning in life and the coping styles used. The main problem in this study was formulated in the form of the question: What is the relationship between the sense of meaning in life and the styles of coping with stress in people infected with HIV? The study was conducted among 60 HIV-infected people. When analyzing the research results, it should be emphasized that living with HIV reduces this feeling. There is no correlation between the sense of meaning in life and the styles of coping with stress in people infected with HIV. Infected people use a highly emotional and avoidant style, and there are differences in coping styles between infected men and women. Avoidance style is more used by males, while task-focused style dominates in infected women. Psychoeducation of an HIV-infected patient should focus on self-esteem, responsibility for oneself and others, and increasing the sense of self-agency in setting and achieving life goals. All of this can contribute to a greater sense of meaning in life and the use of adaptive stress coping styles in people with newly diagnosed HIV infection.
