Celem pracy jest przedstawienie istoty i metod oceny atrakcyjności otoczenia
konkurencyjnego i pozycji konkurencyjnej oraz ocena atrakcyjności branży hoteli 4* w
Krynicy i pozycji konkurencyjnej uczestników tej branży.
Oceny atrakcyjności sektora dokonano na podstawie analizy 5 sił Portera i analizy
punktowej, zaś oceny pozycji konkurencyjnej dokonano na podstawie opracowanej mapy
grup strategicznych, analizy profili konkurencyjnych oraz analizy grzebieniowej. W otoczeniu
konkurencyjnym hoteli 4* zauważyć można dominację szans nad zagrożeniami. Wyniki
analizy 5 sił Portera i punktowej oceny atrakcyjności sektora wskazują ponadto, iż jest to
branża umiarkowanie atrakcyjna. Hotele 4* nie stanowią grupy strategicznej, tylko odmiennie
konkurują w ramach swej branży, w której można wyróżnić trzy grupy strategiczne. Hotele
różnią się pozycją konkurencyjną.
Część empiryczna pracy powstała w oparciu o dane wtórne oraz na podstawie danych
pierwotnych z obserwacji uczestniczącej, gdyż autorka badania jest pracownikiem branży
hotelarskiej w Krynicy.
