Źródła danych miały zatem charakter pierwotny i wtórny.
The thesis aimed at presentation of the concept and methods of identifying the company development and competitive strategies and at identification of the development and competitive strategies for the pharmacy Nasza Apteka. The primary research method was participant observation as the author is an employee of the pharmacy. The additional methods were a direct semi-structured interview with the owner of Nasza Apteka and the analysis of secondary data based on the company records. The data were of primary and secondary nature. The following methods of strategic analysis were applied: strategic balance sheet, PEST analysis, Porter’s five forces framework, SWOT analysis and BCG’s matrix of competitive environments. Based on the analysis it is recommended that the company adopt the growth strategy and that the most proper option of implementation of this strategy be specialization. As far as competitive strategy is concerned, the company is in the situation of “deadlock” which means the lack of clear basis for competing advantage. The strategic move towards the option of volume is recommended, i.e. competing by scale economies and cost leadership. The volume option of competitive strategy can be achieved through mergers and acquisitions to form the chain of pharmacies.
