A feasibility study of flat glass production in Atyrau, Kazakhstan in cooperation with foreign ma
Abstrakt
The main goal of this feasibility analysis is to carefully analyze the current market situation of flat glass for construction purposes, identifying the major strategic groups, both national and foreign. The study also includes analysis of key economic statistics and activities, as well as mineral and resource possessions in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The author coducted the economic analysis of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Atyrau Oblast’. This study presents an overview of the flat glass production process as well as the economics of glass production. All of the analysis and research are done in order to find out if it is needed, and therefore feasible, to start up a small production unit of flat glass for construction purposes). The author documented rapid improvement of economic conditions in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The economic situation is fostered by investments into the strategies of natural resource utilization. On the other hand, this situation is stimulating the construction market in three developed regions in Kazakhstan. The study indicated a total absence of flat glass production which is one of the important sub-markets of any construction market. The quartz sand deposits and rapid development of regions suggest the potential location of production sites in close proximity. The auuthor evaluated the areas according to several criteria, such as access to raw materials, electricity, national distribution and export potentials, and identified three potential locations, the most optimal being the Atyrau town.
