Do pomiaru poziomu wypalenia zawodowego zastosowano Kwestionariusz Wypalenia Zawodowego w opracowaniu Ch. Maslach, a do ujęcia cech osobowości użyto Kwestionariusza Temperamentu i Charakteru autorstwa R. C. Cloningera. Uzyskane wyniki zasadniczo stanowią potwierdzenie sformułowanych hipotez badawczych. Ogólny poziom wypalenia zawodowego u funkcjonariuszy działu penitencjarnego Służby Więziennej współwystępuje z cechami temperamentu i charakteru. Stwierdzono, że wraz ze wzrostem poziomu wypalenia maleje poziom Samokierowania i Skłonności do współpracy. Wzrostowi poziomu wypalenia towarzyszy wzrost poziomu Unikania szkody.
The prime motivating hypothesis of the current study was to verify if a significant relationship exists between personality traits and stress burn out in prison officers at a Penitentiary - Corrections Facility. Other hypotheses investigated for possible correlations between temperament traits and character traits and stress burn out, as well as possible significant differences between participants with a high and low level of stress burn out within the scope of temperament and character traits. Empirical verification of the hypotheses was carried out on 124 employed prison officers, 92 males and 32 females varying between 21 and 59 years of age. For measurement of stress burn out Ch. Maslach’s Burnout Inventory out was adopted, and for measurement of personality traits Cloninger’s Temperament and Character Inventory was utilized. The analyzed results indicated hypotheses were supported and confirmed. The level of stress burn out in prison officers correlated with temperament and character traits. Results showed that an increase in the level of stress burn out decreases self-direction and cooperativeness. An increase in the level of stress burn out was accompanied by an increase in harm avoidance. Results also illustrated that a high level of stress burn out meant prison officers abstained from helping, whereas participants with a low level were prone to help people under their charge. Within the measured personality traits, a strong correlation was evident between stress burn out and character traits.
