Stereotyp Roma w memach internetowych

Abstract

Tematyka pracy dyplomowej skupia się na analizie stereotypu Roma zawartego w memach internetowych. Memy internetowe, jako nowe i niezwykle popularne narzędzie komunikacji zapośredniczonej elektronicznie, umożliwiły, w zwięzłej formie, przekazywanie różnorodnych treści, w tym również stereotypów. Dlatego też za główny cel pracy przyjęto poznanie stereotypu Roma przekazywanego za pośrednictwem memów internetowych. Próbę badawczą, wyłonioną na podstawie doboru celowego, stanowiło 16 pojedynczych, reprezentatywnych memów, znajdujących się na stronach Demotywatory.pl, Kwejk.pl oraz Fabrykamemów.pl. Zastosowana niereaktywna metoda – analiza treści, umożliwiła przedstawienie stereotypowego wizerunku Roma funkcjonującego w nowym przekazie medialnym. Zrodzony w Średniowieczu negatywny stereotyp Roma – złodzieja, oszusta, lenia i brudasa znajduje swoje odzwierciedlenie na płaszczyźnie obrazkowych memów internetowych. Internauci za pośrednictwem memów powielają rozpowszechnione w naszym społeczeństwie stereotypy na temat Romów, a także kreują nowy wizerunek Romów. W charakterystyce romskiej mniejszości dominują epitety o zabarwieniu pejoratywnym oraz językowe mechanizmy żartu, ironii i sarkazmu. Przeprowadzona analiza materiału badawczego pozwoliła na wyciągnięcie ważnych, ale niepokojących wniosków – treści przekazywane za pomocą memów internetowych należy uznać za „mowę nienawiści” skierowaną wobec romskiej mniejszości etnicznej.

The diploma thesis is devoted to the analysis the Romany’s stereotype in Internet memes. Internet memes, as a new and very popular tool for electronically mediated communication, enabled, in concise form, transmission a variety of content, including stereotypes. Therefore, the main objective of the work assumed to know the stereotype of the Romany transmitted via the Internet memes. The sample was chosen through a deliberate selection, accounted for 16 single, representative of memes, located on the sides of Demotywatory.pl, Kwejk.pl and Fabrykamemów.pl. The content analysis allowed for revealing the stereotype image of the Romany. The results put the Romani minority in the bad light. The negative stereotype of the Romany, which came into being in the Middle Ages, is reflected at the level of internet memes picture. In the Internet memes, the negative Romany’s stereotype dominates, and the Romany is represented as thief, swindler, idler and scruff. Internet users, through memes, replicate prevalent in our society stereotypes about the Romany, as well as create new image of the Romany. In Romany’s profile prevail pejorative epithets and linguistic mechanisms such as: joke, irony and sarcasm. The analysis of the research material allowed to draw important, but disturbing conclusions − the content transmitted via the Internet memes should be regarded as "hate speech" directed against the Romani ethnic minority.
