In the present thesis, the theoretical issues and research concerning workplace harassment is elaborated on. Various definitions of workplace harassment, reasons for it, the description of the process and consequences of it are presented. The paper also contains some ways of eliminating workplace harassment and the possible claims of its victims.
The research was carried out with the use of the questionnaire filled in by workers of the two companies from Cracow. The aim of this research was to aquire the information of the workplace harassment and to compare the scale of the phenomenon in a big and medium company.
The analysis of the research allows us to think that the information of the workplace harassment should be spread, especially among older workers. What is more, the special attention should be paid to the smaller companies where the scale of the phenomenon seems to be significantly higher than in the bigger organizations.
A worker who can verify whether the boss or other workers act illegally is more likely to defend their laws. Workplace harassment should not be tolerated for it has an unfavourable influence both on workers and on company.
At present, workplace harassment is one of the major management pathologies in the companies because people tend to suppress it in order to avoid dismissal.
