Państwowa Straż Pożarna to formacja mająca na celu przede wszystkim ochronę bezpieczeństwa publicznego. Historia straży pożarnej sięga XIV wieku i na przestrzeni lat jej funkcja i znaczenie uległy zmianie. Dziś jest jedną z instytucji, która działa na rzecz ogółu społeczeństwa, niosąc pomoc przy współpracy z samorządem terytorialnym jako podstawowym ogniwem w systemie administracji terenowej. Niniejsza praca omawia strukturę Państwowej Straży Pożarnej i samorządu terytorialnego oraz ich organów, których wzajemne powiązania mają wpływ na bezpieczeństwo obywateli. Państwowa Straż Pożarna jako zawodowa organizacja wyposażona jest w specjalistyczny sprzęt i wykwalifikowaną kadrę, która oprócz ochrony przeciwpożarowej podejmuje wiele działań na rzecz walki z klęskami żywiołowymi i innymi zagrożeniami jakie niesie współczesny rozwój nowych technologii i komunikacji drogowej.
State Fire Brigade is a formation primarily designed to protect public safety. The history goes back to the fourteenth century and over the years its function and meaning have changed. Today, it is one of the institutions that works to the general public, bringing assistance in cooperation with local government as an essential link in the system of local administration. This paper discusses the structure of the State Fire Service and local authorities and their bodies whose interrelationships affect the security of the citizens. State Fire Service as a professional organization is equipped with specialized equipment and qualified staff, which in addition to fire protection takes many measures to combat natural disasters and other threats brought by modern development of new technologies and road transport.
