Potrzeby osób psychicznie chorych w Domu Pomocy Społecznej

Abstract

Problematyka zaspokajania potrzeb osób psychicznie chorych, mieszkańców Domu Pomocy Społecznej jest szczególnie ważna, gdyż jest to cel i kierunek działania tej instytucji, jak wykazały przeprowadzone badania. Zapewnienie opieki, poszanowanie praw i godności, podmiotowe traktowanie, aktywizacja i rehabilitacja to priorytetowa zasada, jaką kieruje się dyrekcja i personel pracujący w DPS. Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza materiału badawczego, jakim jest ankieta na temat zaspokojenia potrzeb osób psychicznie chorych w ocenie opiekunów i pielęgniarek mających bezpośredni kontakt z nimi. Praca złożona jest z czterech rozdziałów. Pierwszy rozdział przedstawia rys historyczny, strukturę i zasady funkcjonowania Domu Pomocy Społecznej oraz krótkie opisy najczęściej występujących w DPS chorób psychicznych oraz poruszany jest problem trudnej komunikacji z osobami psychicznie chorymi, a co się z tym wiąże problem adaptacji do nowych jakże innych niż dom rodzinny warunków. W drugim rozdziale przedstawiono ważny aspekt aktywizacji osób psychicznie chorych, która pozwala na przestawienie toku myślenia i zwrócenie uwagi na sprawy niezwiązane z chorobą. W procesie aktywizacji, każdy mieszkaniec jest traktowany indywidualnie i podmiotowo, a wybiera taką formę wśród zaoferowanych, która jest dla niego lepsza i najbardziej odpowiada jego potrzebom, zainteresowaniom i możliwościom. Rozdział trzeci to przedstawienie wielowymiarowości trudnej i odpowiedzialnej pracy pielęgniarek i opiekunów z osobami psychicznie chorymi. Natomiast czwarty rozdział to część badawcza, która pozwoli na określenie – diagnozę rzeczywistych potrzeb osób psychicznie chorych – i ich zaspokojenia a odczytywanych przez osoby z nimi pracujące, ponieważ chory psychicznie nie zawsze wie, co dla niego w danej chwili jest sprawą priorytetową.

Problems of meeting the needs of mentally ill residents of the Nursing Home are particularly important, as it is the the aim and direction of activity of this institution, which has been shown in the study. Ensuring care, respecting rights and dignity, subjective treatment, activation and rehabilitation are the major rules of the management and the staff working in the Home. The aim of this work is to analyze the research material, which is a questionnaire devoted to meeting the needs of the mentally ill in the opinion of caregivers and nurses, who are in direct contact with them. The paper consists of four chapters. The first chapter presents the history, structure and principles of functioning of the Nursing Home and short descriptions of the most common mental diseases in the House; it also mentions the problem of difficult communication with the mentally ill and the related problem of adaptation to the new conditions, which differ a lot from their home. The second chapter presents an important aspect, which is activation of the mentally ill which allows them to change their thinking and pay attention to matters that are not related to the disease. In the process of activation, each resident is treated individually and subjectively, and they choose the form of activation which is the best for them and meets their needs, interests and abilities most. The third chapter presents multidimensionality of difficult and responsible work of nurses and caregivers dealing with the mentally ill. And the fourth chapter is a research part, which allows to determine – diagnose – the actual needs of the mentally ill and meeting them from the perspective of the persons who work with them, as the mentally ill do not always know, what is more important at the moment.
