Pozyskane środki w ramach programu Europejskiej Współpracy Terytorialnej dały nowe możliwości rozwoju kontaktów zagranicznych i umożliwiły realizację wspólnych przedsięwzięć. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów. Pierwszy rozdział zawiera pojęcia, definicje oraz podstawy prawne współpracy terytorialnej. Opisano cel, zakres i formy współpracy transgranicznej. Drugi rozdział przedstawia charakterystykę pogranicza polsko – słowackiego, genezę i koncepcję współpracy oraz programy unijne realizowane na pograniczu polsko – słowackim. Rozdział trzeci to zaprezentowanie gminy, jej historii, ale przede wszystkim omówienie projektów transgranicznych realizowanych przez samorząd Miasta i Gminy Piwniczna – Zdrój. Rezultaty wspólnie podjętych działań są widoczne w infrastrukturze związanej z ochroną środowiska, kulturą, rekreacją i sportem. Stworzono nowe atrakcje turystyczne, zorganizowano ciekawe spotkania i zajęcia edukacyjne. Przygotowano i udostępniono interesujące materiały promocyjne. W wyniku realizacji wspólnych przedsięwzięć udało się zbliżyć społeczności zamieszkujące po obu stronach granicy.This paper aims to show how cross-border cooperation of the city Piwniczna Zdrój has boosted to the development and interpersonal contacts on both sides of the border. The disbursed funds under the European Territorial Cooperation program gave new opportunities to develop international contacts and enabled the realization of common projects. The work consists of three chapters. The first chapter contains the concepts, definitions and legal bases territorial cooperation. It described also the purpose, scope and forms of cooperation. The second chapter presents the characteristics of Polish – Slovak borderline, the genesis and concept of cooperation and EU programs implemented on the Polish – Slovak borderline. The third chapter is to present municipality, its history, but above all to discuss cross-border projects implemented by the local government of the town Piwniczna - Zdroj. The results of collectively undertaken actions are visible in the infrastructure related to environmental protection, culture, recreation and sport. They were created new tourist attractions, were organized interesting meetings and educational activities. They were also prepared and made available to interesting promotional materials.
