Za cel badań przyjęto analizę bezrobocia występującego w powiecie nowosądeckim w latach 2008-2012 pod kątem różnych kryteriów oceny tj. wieku badanych, ich wykształcenia, czasu pozostawania bez pracy i stażu pracy oraz miejsca zamieszkania. Część teoretyczną opracowano w oparciu o literaturę przedmiotu i zawiera ona charakterystykę bezrobocia, jego rodzaje, przyczyny, skutki dla społeczeństwa oraz opisuje bezrobocie w ujęciu historycznym przy jednoczesnym wskazaniu nowoczesnych narzędzi służących jego przeciwdziałaniu. Część empiryczna zawiera badania opracowane na podstawie analizy dokumentów (w tym elektronicznych) i na jej podstawie można wysnuć wnioski, iż stopa bezrobocia w powiecie nowosądeckim jest wyższa niż w skali kraju, zjawisko ma charakter trwały - długookresowy, dotyka głównie kobiet, osób w młodym wieku i bez doświadczenia zawodowego, posiadających wykształcenie wyższe, głównie mieszkających na terenach wiejskich. Zjawisko bezrobocia jest ponadczasowym i palącym problemem występującym na całym świecie, które wymaga nieustannego monitoringu i działań mających na celu jego choć częściowe ograniczanie.This thesis is theoretical and empirical and raises the issue of unemployment. The analysis of unemployment in Nowy Sącz district in the period between 2008 and 2012 in terms of various evaluation criteria, i.e. age of the respondents, their education, time of being jobless, years of service and place of residence, was adopted as the purpose of research. The theoretical part has been developed on the basis of primary sources and includes unemployment characteristics, its types, reasons, effects on the society, as well as describes unemployment from a historical perspective while, at the same time, indicating modern tools for unemployment prevention. The empirical part includes research carried out on the basis of the analysis of documents (including electronic documents). On the grounds of this part conclusions may be drawn that unemployment rate in Nowy Sącz district is higher than on the national level, the phenomenon is long-term, primarily affects women, persons who are young, have no professional experience and MA degree, living on rural areas.
