Uzależnienia współcześnie stały się bardzo często występującymi zaburzeniami. Obserwuje się wzrost rozpowszechnienia nie tylko uzależnień od substancji psychoaktywnych, ale również uzależnień od czynności. Jednym z tego rodzaju nieprawidłowości jest uzależnienie od Internetu. Celem niniejszej pracy było ujęcie związków zachodzących pomiędzy uzależnieniem od Internetu a kompetencjami społecznymi młodzieży. Podstawą do osiągnięcia tego celu były dane z badań 177 osób, 137 kobiet oraz 40 mężczyzn w wieku 16-18 lat. Do badania wykorzystano następujące metody: Test Uzależnienia od Internetu Kimberly Young, Kwestionariusz Empatii Osobowej prof. Uchnasta, Skalę Inteligencji Społecznej Silvera, Martinussen i Dahl oraz Arkusz personalny własnej konstrukcji. Analiza statystyczna materiału empirycznego wykazała obecność tylko nielicznych istotnych statystycznie różnic w zakresie analizowanych zmiennych. Ponadto widoczne są tendencje, które wskazują na różnice w empatii oraz inteligencji społecznej młodzieży uzależnionej oraz nieuzależnionej od Internetu. Rezultaty badań potwierdziły tylko niektóre z założonych hipotez i wskazują, że młodzież nadmiernie korzystająca z Internetu cechuje się niższym poziomem empatii osobowej oraz inteligencji społecznej niż młodzież nieuzależniona od Internetu.
Addictions have become very frequent disorder nowadays. We observe an increase in spreading not only substantial addictions but also behavioral addictions. One of these kinds of addiction is an Internet Addiction. The purpose of this dissertation is to provide a reader with a relation between Internet Addiction and social competences of teenagers. In order to achieve this purpose the research was conducted in the group of 177 people, including 137 women and 40 men at the age of 16-18. The following methods were used in the research: Internet Addiction Test by Kimberly Young, Questionnaire of Personal Empathy by prof. Uchnast, The Tromsø Social Intelligence Scale by Silver, Martinussen and Dahl and the personal report of own construction. The statistic analysis of empirical data indicated that there are on only a few statistically significant differences in analyzed variables. Furthermore, the differences between empathy and social intelligence of teenagers addicted and not addicted to the Internet are shown as a tendency. The results of research confirm only a few of assumed hypotheses, and it shows that students addicted to the Internet have a lower level of empathy and social intelligence than their peers not addicted to the Internet.
