dc.description.abstract The main objective of this thesis is to provide the feedback for creating private medical institution. It begins with the description of health care system in Poland within which this private medical institution will have to exist, then analyses the potential demand and supply of health care services from macro- and microeconomic perspective and finally ends with the legal and organizational issues which are necessary to establish the business. The first chapter of the thesis illustrates health care system in Poland – the main public institutions which are involved in financing health care services. It includes also the sanitary requirements for providing health care services since the prospective medical institution is obliged to promote health. The second chapter attempts to describe the potential for providing health care services from macro- and microeconomic point of view. The primary assumption is that before deciding on the “product offering” and entering the market, one should learn the trends in market size and find out what are and will be health care needs of the population. That is why, the trends in population size, age structure as well as average life expectancy which are demographic factors describing the overall health care needs of the population, were included to analyze health care industry attractiveness. The main focus of the third chapter was to underline the basic legal steps and requirements which are necessary to establish and run private medical institution. Besides, it proposes health care service offerings which are out of pocket (as a private expenditure) and the ones which can be also provided by the contract with NHF as well. It also includes the issues concerning customer value and medical institution image creation since they may constitute an incentive for people to visit this particular medical institution. In conclusion, I would like to state that health care services market in Poland is attractive for investment purpose not only because health is the greatest value of each individual but also when taking into consideration Polish health care system. First of all, the private medical institution can provide health care services financed from public sources – it means that the NHF will be the purchaser of health care services provided by this institution and as it was mentioned before, it provides the continuous and fixed cash inflows. pl
