dc.description.abstract An interesting phenomenon should be noticed in the culture of Indian entrepreneurship. It all started with the secularisation of the state in the middle of the twentieth century. The separation of the religion from the state and, what follows, business changed the way entrepreneurial duties are performed. Until that time religion with its caste system very often determined the occupation and the life path of the Indian people. Of course now the caste system is still present in India and the very fact of issuing new governmental regulations and even writing a new constitution cannot make Indians change the social system that has prevailed in India for thousands of years. The point here is that the secularisation of the state began a long process of building the value of individualism. Entrepreneurs have more freedom in choosing their career path and the way they want to manage their businesses. The main aim of the thesis is to examine the culture of Indian entrepreneurship. The author points out that the culture of the entrepreneurial qualities in India is omnipotent and that the culture of some of them seems to support the entrepreneurial spirit. They are: 1.An attitude towards risk and uncertainty; 2.The ability to sacrifice for future profits; 3.Culture of entrepreneurial motivation; 4. Culture of communication. Similarly, the author claims, there also are the entrepreneurial qualities whose culture sets Indians back at a disadvantage during the entrepreneurial process. They are: 1.Time concept; 2. Innovativeness and independent thinking; 3. Freedom to be an entrepreneur. The author concludes that the culture of entrepreneurship in India is one of a kind and every foreigner visiting the country for a business purpose will be astonished with its complexity and the numerous angles it can be analysed from. It is certainly advantageous to know and understand the Hindu religion, since it is an all-encompassing element of Indian life. Without it there can be a large field for misunderstanding. pl
