dc.description.abstract The purpose of this paper is to verify whether theories presented in the book The Economic Psychology of Everyday Life by Webley et al. (2001) concerning children and their economic development may be true in the Polish reality. Four surveys were prepared and four children groups were examined. In total 155 questionnaires were distributed among the four groups. 30 questionnaires were collected from the pre-school group, 15 from the school-entry group, 46 from the 9-10 years old, and 64 from the oldest group, 10-14 years old. The information gathered from the survey led to conclusions similar to the ones presented by Webley et al. (2001). What must be indicated is the fact that there exist certain contrasts, which may result from cultural and civilizational differences. However all the four age groups examined in Poland, i.e. the pre-school, school entry, school period (9-10 years old), and school period (10-14 years old) follow the same path in the development of their economic awareness as their English counterparts, and this is the main conclusion this paper leads to. en
