Pozycja Basic psychological needs in Polish university level studies and their readiness for participation(2012-06-30 20:24:58) Furtak, Przemysław; Stocki, RyszardThe following study, had three purposes. One was to examine, whether Basic Psychological Needs have an impact on the individuals participation level. Second step was to test the relation between Basic Psychological Needs and participation level depending on gender. Finally, the study was meant to examine self-discipline according to the KSAS questionnaire, in relation with the level of satisfaction of basic needs. Deci and Ryan’s Self- Determination Theory gave the theoretical background for this thesis. For the research, 106 participants from Polish universities completed two surveys. Basic Psychological Needs Scale BPNS by Deci and Ryan, and Self – Actualization Style Questionnaire KSAS by Zenon Uchnast. Regression analysis showed, that competence need, when fulfilled, have minor impact on the participation level. Study also proved, that there is a little moderation between genders. Women have more tendency to show their competence when it comes to participate in the university performance.Pozycja Personalistic Psychology of Management: An Option for Critical Management Studies(Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu – National-Louis University, 2009) Stocki, RyszardCritical management studies try to address many management issues that traditional management studies haven’t been able to solve for many years. In this volume we propose personalism to be an approach that may inspire critical management studies and offer new perspectives.. We start with two philosophical papers; one addressing the problem of self-determination and the other the problem of communication. They show how philosophical and anthropological concept influences the thinking in areas close to management studies. With the third chapter we enter the world of psychology and may see how personalistic approach changes the view of human predispositions and competencies. The fourth paper leads us further in understanding of human being into the world of goal-setting and goal orientations. The last three papers show CMS in empirical studies of management practice. First it is the issue of work related personal projects, then participative management of project teams and finally research on trust with conclusions on why employees either trust or do not trust their managers. In this paper I propose explanation how the presented papers could impact the critical management studies and how to continue this approach.Pozycja Sensemaking after failure. Which prisoners are learning from their failures?(2012-09-20 13:24:27) Szczurek, Marek; Stocki, RyszardThe study aimed to investigate the response to the failure. How do people make sense about their life failures, and whether to draw conclusions and learn from them. The object of study beyond the creation of meaning about their failures was also determined whether the level of self-actualization and motivation has an impact on the process of sensemaking and the location of guilt. Sensemaking theory proposed by Karl Weick was the theoretical basis for this study. The study was conducted with six prisoners, interviewed by Dan P. McAdams Script - The life story interview. Then the subjects completed the Self-Actualization Questionnaire KSAS proposed by Zenon Uchnast. Studies show that prisoners are learning from their failures and trying to build new strategies. Research has also shown that there is a correlation between the level of self-actualization and the motivation and learning from life failures.Pozycja The difference in the level of altruism between cyberspace and real life(2012-09-05 03:03:26) Granda, Konrad; Stocki, RyszardThis research was conducted for four reasons. The first one was to examine the differences between altruism in the cyberspace and real life. The results regarding altruism in the cyberspace were viewed from the perspective of Klisanin’s theory of Digital Altruism (Klisanin, 2011). Second reason was to examine the relationship between interpersonal trust and knowledge sharing in the Internet environment and make a comparison with its ‘real life’ counterpart. In the third step relationship between interpersonal trust and social identification was tested, data from the two dimensions were compared. Finally, social identity’s relations with knowledge sharing were examined in regard to cyberspace and ‘real life’. In this research, 271 participants from three universities completed two opened-ended questions regarding altruism in ‘real life’ and ‘cyberspace’ and three questionnaires. Interpersonal Trust Scale by Julian Rotter (1991), Aspects of Identity Questionnaire (AIQ IV) by Jonathan Cheek (2002) and Questionnaire on Knowledge Sharing Behavior by Nor Intan Saniah binti Sulaiman (2010). Regression analysis showed that trust has strong impact on community factor of knowledge sharing and on social identification in both cyberspace and ‘real life’. The study also showed that social identification strongly influences personal and community factors of knowledge sharing in cyberspace environment and only community factor in ‘real life’. Altruistic activities are directed to people familiar to the altruist. Cyberspace altruistic activities are connected with Klisanin’s everyday and creative digital altruism.Pozycja Total Participation Management: Toward Psychological Determinants of Subjective Well-Being at Work(Nowy Sacz School of Business – National-Louis University, 2013) Mika, Katarzyna; Stocki, Ryszard; Bożek, AgnieszkaAiming to determine which management practice has the strongest influence on the subjective well-being (SWB) of employees, three workplaces were assessed with reference to different levels of total participation management (TPM), an innovative approach to human resource management. The study examined whether the level of TPM is positively related with SWB, defined according to Diener’s (1984) affective and cognitive facets of work. The psychological explanation of the predicted dependence was the level of satisfaction of three basic needs (autonomy, competence and relatedness) distinguished by Deci and Ryan (2000a). The hypothesis about a positive relationship between SWB and TPM was confirmed. Results indicate that the least participative company has employees with the lowest subjective well-being and with the lowest satisfaction of basic psychological needs.
