    Measures of company internationalization

    Company (Enterprise) internationalization is a complex process. In addition, assessment of its proceedings and its degree is not an easy and unambiguous task. This article includes summary of indicators of internationalization process as well as grouping of indicators according to these particular components of the enterprise that can undergo internationalization process. This paper also contains criteria of assessment of the degree of internalization which shall make analysis of internationalization process in the companies easier for entrepreneurs.

    Internationalization of enterprises cannot be perceived only through the prism of firms activity on the international markets. Consequently, whole enterprise undergoes internationalization along with its assets, employees, clients, suppliers as well as destination markets. In order to measure the degree of internal internationalization of the enterprise, “Aggregate index of firm internationalization” should be used. Aggregate index of firm internationalization allows to measure the degree of internationalization taking into account all factors in the structure of enterprise. By using aggregate index of firm internationalization, analysis of degree of internationalization in the forwarding enterprise in the years of 2005, 2006 and 2007, was carried out. This inquiry allowed to observe that the degree of internationalization in the structure of this firm can be measured as a high in the first of the above mentioned periods and middle in the last two ones, despite enterprise almost 100% activity on the international markets.

    Since processes of internationalization of economies are very common around the world, it became substantial to work out measures which would allow to quantify a level of internationalization of particular countries. In addition, it became important to elaborate measures that could allow to determine level of attractiveness of countries' economies for foreign investors. Set of measures presented in this writing can have practical use at the evaluation of level internationalization of particular country. In addition, this set of measures can be put in practice in comparative analysis of levels of internationalization.

    Enterprises striving to raise their profile can implement strategy of balanced development. This strategy creates new opportunities for enterprises, nevertheless; it requires from them to overcome many obstacles. The purpose of this paper is to prove that forwarding enterprises can shape their organization according to strategy of balanced development by using new opportunities and overcoming impediments. This paper consists of three parts. First part includes definition of balanced development. The second one explains the issues related to specific of forwarding enterprises. Finally, in the third and four part there is a diagnosis of opportunities to use and obstacles to overcome by firms while strategy of balanced development is implemented.

    Struktura sektora przedsiębiorstw spedycyjnych w Polsce

    The purpose of this essay is a thorough examination of the term of freight forwarding. Furthermore, the main objective of this paper is to prove the argument that supply of freight forwarding services in Poland is not expanding. Consequently, definitions of the terms such as: transportation, logistics and forwarding are hereby presented. In addition, types of forwarding services as well as their positions according to supply in economic classification system – Polish and European are indicated. Moreover, this paper is showing characteristics of the freight forwarding market. Among others, Polish International Freight Forwarders Association is shown as an organization associating freight forwarding enterprises. Especially, its legal and organizational structure is analysed. Finally, in order to prove truthfullness of the above mentioned argument, analysis of the structure of the freight forwarding enterprises is carried out based on the dates of their establishment. As a result of these researches, it can be proved that number of newly established freight forwarding enterprises has been presently decreased. The main reason of such a situation lies in the legal obstacles that occur while establishing new freight forwarding units.
