Pozycja Bank Credit as a Means for Counteracting the Economic Slowdown(Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu - National-Louis University in Nowy Sącz, 2013) Nijakowska-Augustyn, AnnaThis paper attempts to identify the factors contributing to the limitation of lending which may stem from risk aversion of both banks and companies. It also presents the importance of credit as one of the main sources of funding the needs of companies, as well as one of the major means for counteracting the economic slowdown. Therefore, an empirical part of this paper comprises research on the correlation between gross domestic product and credit given to companies in general. Since investments made by companies have a significant impact on economic growth, the paper also presents the dependence of investments on investment credit. On the basis of research done, it has been ascertained that the main goal of economic policy should be to stimulate the activity of entrepreneurs by implementing various regulations that would increase lending by banks. Such actions would definitely improve the economic situation on the whole.Pozycja The Development and Importance of Small and Medium Enterprises in the Polish Economy During the Economic Slowdown(Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu - National-Louis University in Nowy Sącz, 2014) Nijakowska-Augustyn, AnnaThe purpose of this article is to discuss the condition of the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and its importance in the Polish economy during the economic slowdown. The SMEs around the world play a significant role in the economic growth of many countries, as well as in the job creation or in the development of selected sectors or whole countries. The paper presents a classification of SMEs and the current state of the SME sector in Poland. In addition, the study attempts to prove that this sector, currently represents a significant segment of the Polish economy in the context of the micro- and macro-economic factors, especially during the economic downturn.
