Borderline Personality Disorder

Abstract

Borderline personality disorder is a complex and often severe personality disorder characterized by instability in emotional experience, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, and behavior. In this article, we discuss the diagnostic criteria according to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), as well as the clinical manifestations that allow for accurate diagnosis and differentiation from other mental disorders. Furthermore, we explore various therapeutic approaches that have proven effective in the treatment of the presented personality disorder. In the conclusion of the article, we present a case study illustrating the practical application of the diagnosis and treatment of borderline personality disorder in a clinical setting. This article provides a comprehensive overview of borderline personality disorder, its therapeutic options, and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of this challenging disorder.

Osobowość chwiejna emocjonalnie typu borderline (Borderline Personality Disorder – BPD) to złożone i często poważne zaburzenie osobowości, które charakteryzuje się niestabilnością w sferze emocjonalnej, relacjach interpersonalnych, samoocenie oraz zachowaniu. W niniejszym artykule omawiamy kryteria diagnostyczne według Międzynarodowej Klasyfikacji Chorób (ICD-10) oraz Diagnostycznego i Statystycznego Podręcznika Zaburzeń Psychicznych (DSM-5), a także objawy kliniczne, które pozwalają na precyzyjną diagnozę i różnicowanie od innych zaburzeń psychicznych. W dalszej części analizujemy różne podejścia terapeutyczne, które okazały się skuteczne w leczeniu tego typu zaburzeń osobowości. W zakończeniu artykułu przedstawiamy studium przypadku, które ilustruje praktyczne zastosowanie diagnostyki i leczenia osobowości borderline w środowisku klinicznym. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi kompleksowy przegląd zaburzenia osobowości typu borderline, dostępnych opcji terapeutycznych oraz podkreśla znaczenie podejścia multidyscyplinarnego w leczeniu tego wymagającego zaburzenia.
