| pl |
| dc.description.abstract | Financial liquidity in the energy sector cannot be reliably assessed on the basis of a single balance-sheet ratio, because different business models, capital intensity, and tariff regulation may create a gap between the static picture and the quality of operating cash flows and the cash buffer. The aim of the study was to examine whether the methods and tools used in liquidity management enable effective control of liquidity and adequate protection against the risk of liquidity loss; the research was conducted as a comparative analysis of ENEA S.A. and PSE S.A. for 2019-2023, based on individual financial statements from the KRS/RDF repository, using static indicators (current ratio, quick ratio, cash ratio) and dynamic indicators (operating cash flow, CFO/short-term liabilities ratio), with triangulation of measures. The results show that a high or borderline current ratio does not guarantee sustainable liquidity: at ENEA the ratio was maintained despite persistently negative operating cash flow and a sharply declining cash buffer, while at PSE the current ratio remained below 1.0 with rising cash and positive operating cash flow in all years. The differences are model-driven and reflect the distinct business architecture of both companies. The study confirms that effective liquidity management requires multidimensional diagnosis combining the balance sheet, cash, and operating flows. | en |
