Prognozowanie popytu i optymalizacja zapasów leków antyalergicznych w hurtowni farmaceutycznej z wykorzystaniem modeli szeregów czasowych
Abstrakt
Praca dotyczy prognozowania popytu i optymalizacji zapasów leków antyalergicznych w hurtowni farmaceutycznej.
This thesis deals with demand forecasting and inventory optimization for anti-allergic medicines in a pharmaceutical wholesaler. The availability of these medicines is important for health, and their sales are strongly seasonal, because they depend on the plant pollen calendar. This makes inventory planning difficult: too little stock causes lost sales during the peak season, while too much stock leads to expired products and frozen capital. The aim of the thesis is to develop a way of forecasting demand for selected anti-allergic medicines and to use it to optimize the inventory level in the studied wholesaler. The theoretical part describes the pharmaceutical market, the legal and operational rules of trade, the functions and types of inventory, and the seasonal nature of demand for anti-allergic medicines. The empirical part is based on historical sales data of selected anti-allergic medicines from one pharmaceutical wholesaler; it includes the analysis of these data, building a demand forecast, and turning it into decisions about the level and timing of stock replenishment, together with an assessment of the cost effects. The thesis ends with conclusions on whether basing inventory management on demand forecasting can reduce inventory holding costs while keeping a high level of customer service, and with recommendations for the studied wholesaler.
