The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between the sense of coherence, the sense of meaning in life, and subjective poverty among young adults aged 18–30 years. Due to the limited number of studies devoted to the issue of subjective poverty, the study had an exploratory, correlational, and predictive character. An author-developed questionnaire of subjective poverty, the Life Attitude Profile Questionnaire (LAP-R), and the Sense of Coherence Questionnaire (SOC-29) were used. A total of 111 individuals aged 18–30 years participated in the study. The results indicated a significant negative relationship between the sense of coherence and subjective poverty. No such relationship was confirmed for the sense of meaning in life. Furthermore, the sense of coherence remained a significant predictor of subjective poverty after controlling for income and sociodemographic variables. However, the moderating role of the sense of coherence in the relationship between income and subjective poverty was not confirmed. These findings suggest that subjective poverty may be associated not only with objective financial circumstances but also with individual psychological characteristics. Due to the exploratory nature of the study, the findings should be considered preliminary.
