The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between personality traits and styles of coping with academic stress among students in technical fields. The study was conducted using the NEO-FFI Personality Inventory, the CISS Coping with Stress Questionnaire, and a self-designed questionnaire focusing primarily on sociodemographic data. A total of 111 students from various engineering programs participated in the study. Analysis of the data revealed that neuroticism was strongly and positively associated with an emotion-focused coping style, while conscientiousness and extraversion were linked to more frequent use of task-oriented strategies. Openness to experience showed positive correlations with task-focused style and social seeking, while the significance of agreeableness for stress coping strategies proved to be limited. It was also found that women used an emotion-focused style more often than men, while no significant differences were found between first-year students and upperclassmen in terms of the avoidance strategies used. The results indicate that personality traits are a significant factor in differentiating approaches to coping with academic stress and expand our understanding of how students in technical fields function.en
