Abstrakt

This thesis presents the results of research investigating the relationship between team effectiveness, organizational culture, and national cultural values. Studies of five teams from Ukraine and Poland show that team effectiveness is not connected strictly to any single type of culture, but rather to an appropriate combination of values determined by the type of organization or industry. The impact of organizational culture is demonstrated through a comparison of cultural profiles of two similar consulting companies from Kiev and Warsaw. Despite the differences in the organizational cultures, teams from both companies demonstrated comparably high effectiveness scores. Particular attention is devoted to research methodology. The possibility of using American psychometric instruments in Ukrainian and Polish environment is tested, and the issues connected with the development of the Ukrainian versions of Team Diagnostic Survey by J.R. Hackman and his colleagues, as well as the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument by Cameron and Quinn are discussed.
