Wnioski z pracy mogą stanowić podstawę do dalszych badań nad rozwojem systemów informacji zarządczej w sektorze MŚP.
The aim of this thesis is to present the role of management accounting in the decision-making process in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The study focuses on the importance of management information as a tool supporting operational, tactical, and strategic management in the SME sector, which is characterized by limited financial and organizational resources. The theoretical part of the thesis discusses the essence of management accounting, its objectives, functions, and basic tools used in enterprise decision-making processes. Particular attention is given to the specific characteristics of small and medium-sized enterprises and the conditions affecting the scope and manner of using management information in this sector. The importance of the accounting information system in shaping management effectiveness is also examined. The empirical part of the study is based on a questionnaire survey conducted among representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises. The aim of the survey was to identify the extent to which management accounting tools are used and to assess their impact on the quality of economic decision-making. The results indicate that enterprises applying elements of management accounting demonstrate a higher level of cost control and greater accuracy in operational decisions. The analyses conducted confirm that management accounting plays a significant role in the decision-making process in small and medium-sized enterprises, contributing to improved management effectiveness and increased competitiveness of the surveyed entities. The conclusions of the thesis may serve as a basis for further research on the development of management information systems in the SME sector.
