Poziom lęku a funkcjonowanie poznawcze pracowników mundurowych służby więziennej
Wykorzystano następujące narzędzia badawcze: Inwentarz Stanu i Cechy Lęku STAI autorstwa Spielbergera, Gorsucha i Lushene, Skalę Samokontroli SCS autorstwa Tangney i współpracowników, Kwestionariusz Impulsywności Eysencka IVE oraz Baterię Testów APIS-Z(R). Analizie poddano związki pomiędzy poziomem lęku a wybranymi aspektami funkcjonowania poznawczego badanych.
This study focuses on the relationship between anxiety levels and cognitive functioning among Prison Service officers. The aim of the research was to determine whether the intensity of anxiety is associated with the level of self-control, impulsivity understood as a tendency to make rapid decisions, and abilities related to critical thinking. The study was conducted among 70 Prison Service officers employed in penitentiary institutions. The following research instruments were used: the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) developed by Spielberger, Gorsuch, and Lushene; the Self-Control Scale (SCS) developed by Tangney and colleagues; the Eysenck Impulsiveness Questionnaire (IVE); and the APIS-Z(R) Test Battery. The analysis focused on the relationships between anxiety levels and selected aspects of the participants' cognitive functioning. The subject matter is particularly important due to the specific nature of Prison Service work, which involves a high level of stress and the necessity to make accurate decisions in situations requiring enhanced cognitive and emotional control. The findings may provide a basis for developing preventive measures and support programs aimed at promoting the mental health of Prison Service officers.
