Badanie przeprowadzono wśród 102 matek dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym.
Modern parenting entails numerous demands and burdens that may contribute to the development of parental burnout. Psychological resources, such as emotional intelligence and a sense of coherence, are considered particularly significant in coping with the difficulties of the parental role. This study analyzes the relationships between parental burnout, emotional intelligence, and the sense of coherence among mothers of preschool-aged children. The theoretical section discusses the phenomenon of parental burnout, selected concepts of emotional intelligence, and Aaron Antonovsky’s theory of salutogenesis. The study was conducted among a group of 102 mothers of preschool children. The following instruments were utilized: the Parental Burnout Assessment (PBA), the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (INTE), and the Life Orientation Questionnaire (SOC-29). Statistical analyses revealed that the level of parental burnout in the studied group was relatively low. The results confirmed the existence of significant negative correlations between parental burnout and both emotional intelligence and the sense of coherence. This indicates that higher levels of emotional intelligence and a stronger sense of coherence are associated with lower intensity of parental burnout symptoms. Furthermore, a positive correlation was found between emotional intelligence and the sense of coherence. Regression analyses demonstrated that the sense of coherence was a more significant predictor of parental burnout than emotional intelligence. The findings suggest that psychological resources perform a vital protective function in the daily lives of mothers of preschool children. The results highlight the importance of preventive measures and interventions aimed at developing emotional competencies and strenghening the sense of coherence in parents.
