| pl |
| dc.description.abstract | The thesis concerns the relationship between anxiety, self-esteem, temporal perspective and the risk of Internet addiction among adults. The aim of the study was to determine whether and how the intensity of anxiety symptoms, global self-esteem and time perspective are associated with problematic Internet use. The study included 100 adult Internet users, diverse in terms of gender, age, place of residence, level of education and being in a stable romantic relationship. The diagnostic survey method and the online questionnaire technique were used. The research tools included the anxiety subscale of DASS-21, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the short version of the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory ZTPI-15, the Internet Addiction Test and an original sociodemographic questionnaire. The analysis included the level of anxiety, self-esteem, five dimensions of time perspective, time spent on social media and selected sociodemographic characteristics. The results showed that a higher level of anxiety was associated with a greater risk of Internet addiction, while lower self-esteem was related to more severe problematic Internet use. Among the dimensions of time perspective, negative past was particularly significant. The risk of Internet addiction was also differentiated by gender, age, place of residence, being in a stable relationship and time spent on social media. The conclusions indicate that problematic Internet use is related to emotional functioning, self-evaluation and concentration on negative past experiences. | en |
