Uzyskane wyniki podkreślają potrzebę długoterminowego i interdyscyplinarnego wsparcia kobiet doświadczających przemocy domowej.
The aim of this study was to present the process of gradual deterioration of mental health and self-esteem among women experiencing domestic violence in intimate relationships. The analysis was grounded in a psychological and psychosocial perspective, taking into account mechanisms of relational violence, coercive control, traumatic bonding, and learned helplessness. The study was conducted using a qualitative case study method involving five women who had experienced violence from their partners. Individual in-depth interviews and standardized psychological tools were used, including the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (SES), the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS), and the Perceived Stress Questionnaire (KPS). The findings indicate that long-term exposure to domestic violence leads to lowered self-esteem, persistent helplessness, chronic anxiety, and emotional overload. Social and psychological support, as well as the possibility of leaving the abusive relationship, played a significant role in the process of psychological recovery. The results highlight the need for long-term and interdisciplinary support for women experiencing domestic violence.
