Abstract This study examines the relationship between online activity and levels of anxiety and self-esteem stability among 14-year-old elementary school students. The research is based on the assumption that, for today’s teenagers, the virtual world serves as a significant environment for emotional regulation. The theoretical section presents the psychological aspects of anxiety, viewed both as a transient state and as a relatively stable trait of the individual, as well as the structure of self-esteem. The mechanism of using the Internet as a tool for compensatory escapism and immediate mood improvement is discussed. The specifics of gender dimorphism in the area of digital behaviors and the role of Artificial Intelligence-based tools as a form of emotional support for students experiencing heightened anxiety are analyzed. The research section focuses on a statistical analysis of the relationship between students’ levels of anxiety and self-esteem and the nature of their online activity. The quantitative study utilized standardized psychometric tools: the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (STAIC), M. Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale (SES), and an original survey questionnaire. The results of our own research (N=102) revealed significant associations between low self-esteem and high levels of anxiety and the intensity of social media use among girls, as well as a negative correlation between anxiety severity and time spent on online gaming among boys. Based on the results obtained, practical recommendations were drawn up for the psychological and educational support system.  en
