Celem pracy było zbadanie zależności pomiędzy postrzeganiem własnego ciała, nasileniem objawów depresyjnych a ryzykiem zaburzeń odżywiania w grupie młodzieży w wieku 16-18 lat. Przegląd literatury uwzględniał badania krajowe i zagraniczne.
The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between body image, the severity of depressive symptoms, and the risk of eating disorders in a group of adolescents aged 16-18. The influence of gender and body mass index (BMI) on the studied relationships was also analyzed. The theoretical section presents the mechanisms of body image development in late adolescence and its importance for self-esteem and psychological well-being. The characteristics of eating disorders and depressive symptoms were discussed, indicating the psychological determinants of their co-occurrence. The literature review included domestic and international studies. The empirical section was based on a study conducted using three tools: the Body Image Scale (BES), the Child and Adolescent Depression Inventory (CDI-2), and the Eating Attitudes Questionnaire (EAT-26). The study results indicate statistically significant relationships between negative body image, the severity of depressive symptoms, and an increased risk of eating disorders in adolescents. The obtained results highlight the importance of body image and depressive symptoms as significant factors co-occurring with the risk of eating disorders in adolescence and may constitute an important point of reference for preventive measures and psychological interventions aimed at adolescents.en
