Badanie miało charakter ilościowy i zostało przeprowadzone w grupie 101 rodziców dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym. Podczas badań wykorzystano autorską ankietę socjodemograficzną, Kwestionariusz Temperamentu EAS-C Bussa i Plomina, Kwestionariusz Radzenia Sobie w Sytuacjach Stresowych CISS oraz Inwentarz Stresu Rodzicielskiego PSI-4 SF.
The aim of this thesis was to examine the relationship between the temperament of preschool children and the level of parental stress, as well as the coping styles preferred by parents. Particular attention was given to such dimensions of child temperament as emotionality, activity, sociability, and shyness. The study was quantitative in nature and was conducted among 101 parents of preschool children. The research instruments included an original sociodemographic questionnaire, the Buss and Plomin EAS-C Temperament Questionnaire, the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS), and the Parenting Stress Index, Fourth Edition, Short Form (PSI-4-SF). The results indicated that, among the analyzed temperament traits, emotionality showed the strongest significant positive relationship with the overall level of parental stress. A significant relationship was also found between the difficult temperament index, a synthetic construct developed for the purposes of the study, and parental stress; however, the strength of this relationship was weak. No significant correlations were found between the overall level of parental stress and activity, sociability, or shyness as individual dimensions of temperament. The analyses also showed that the task-oriented coping style was dominant in the study group. The findings suggest that child temperament, especially emotionality, may be relevant to the experience of parental stress. However, the observed relationships should be interpreted with caution due to the correlational nature of the study. The results may be applied in psychoeducational and support activities addressed to parents of preschool children.
