The aim of this study was to examine the personality traits of five sensory integration therapists and to demonstrate their impact on the quality of the therapeutic relationship, with particular emphasis on empathy. The relationship between the therapist and the child is based on trust and authenticity and constitutes the foundation of effective therapy. My experience indicates how important the therapist’s personality traits are in the process of supporting the child. Understanding their significance became the basis for conducting a qualitative analysis of five individual cases. The study employed the NEO-FFI, SOC-29, and IVE questionnaires. Children with sensory integration difficulties often respond with anxiety and uncertainty to new sensory stimuli. The way an adult responds to a child’s behavior influences the child’s ability to engage in the therapeutic process. The aim of the study is to show how the therapist’s personality traits, particularly empathy, influence the course and outcomes of sensory integration therapy.
