Analizy uwzględ-niające formy kontaktu (pytanie wielokrotnego wyboru) nie wykazały istotnych różnic w PSS‑10 ani WHO‑5. | pl |
| dc.description.abstract | This study examines the relationship between regular contact with horses and perceived stress levels and psychological well-being in adults. The study was conducted using a diagnostic online survey. 168 participants completed sociodemographic data, questions about contact with horses, and two standardized tools: the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) and the WHO-5 index. For the purposes of hypothesis testing, "regular contact" was defined as contact with horses at least once a week in the last three months. Comparisons between the regular contact group (n = 96) and the no regular contact group (n = 72) revealed no significant differences in stress levels or well-being. Correlation analyses in the subsample of individuals completing the contact details module (N = 122) revealed no significant relationships between most contact intensity indicators (frequency, duration, and session duration) and PSS-10 and WHO-5 scores. However, a weak positive relationship was observed between the self-reported level of engagement in horse-related activities and mental well-being. Analyses accounting for the form of contact (multiple-choice questions) did not reveal significant differences in the PSS-10 or WHO-5, including corrections for multiple testing. The results suggest that in the study sample, regularity, understood as the frequency of contact, did not differentiate stress and well-being; however, the subjective quality of the experience, reflected by the level of engagement, may be important. The results should be interpreted with caution due to the cross-sectional nature of the study, self-report measurement, and sampling limitations. | en |
