Abstract

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza związku, który zachodzi między poziomem inteligencji emocjonalnej, a poziomem doświadczanego stresu rodzicielskiego w grupie matek dzieci z zaburzeniami ze spektrum autyzmu. Analiza dostępnej literatury pozwala stwierdzić, że wychowanie dziecka z ASD, z uwagi na trudności z którymi się mierzy, obciążone jest licznymi obciążeniami emocjonalnymi, wyzwaniami rodzicielskimi, które bezpośrednio wpływają na funkcjonowanie psychiczne rodziców, a zwłaszcza matek oraz całej rodziny. Zasobem, który wspiera radzenie sobie ze stresem powstałym w wyniku deficytów dziecka jest inteligencja emocjonalna, która rozumiana jest jako zdolność do rozpoznawania, rozumienia i regulowania emocji. W celu dokonania analizy tego związku przeprowadzono badania kwestionariuszowe, w których zastosowano Kwestionariusz Inteligencji Emocjonalnej INTE oraz Inwentarz Stresu Rodzicielskiego PSI-4-SF, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem komponentów takich jak stres osobisty, dysfunkcyjna relacja rodzic-dziecko oraz postrzeganie dziecka jako trudnego. Uzyskane wyniki wraz z analizą dostępnej literatury pozwalają na stwierdzenie istotnej zależności pomiędzy poziomem inteligencji emocjonalnej, a poziome stresu rodzicielskiego oraz bardziej adaptacyjnym postrzeganiem relacji z dzieckiem. Uzyskane w wyniku analizy wyniki mogą przyczynić się do lepszego zrozumienia mechanizmów psychologicznego funkcjonowania matek dzieci ze spektrum autyzmu oraz wskazać kierunek działań terapeutycznych, których celem będzie kształtowanie inteligencji emocjonalnej.

The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between the level of emotional intelligence and the level of parental stress experienced by mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A review of the available literature indicates that raising a child with ASD, due to the difficulties associated with the disorder, involves numerous emotional burdens and parenting challenges that directly affect the psychological functioning of parents, particularly mothers, as well as the functioning of the entire family. Emotional intelligence, understood as the ability to recognize, understand, and regulate emotions, constitutes an important personal resource that may support coping with stress resulting from the child’s developmental difficulties. In order to examine this relationship, a questionnaire-based study was conducted using the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (INTE) and the Parenting Stress Index – Short Form (PSI-4-SF), with particular attention to components such as parental distress, dysfunctional parent–child interaction, and the perception of the child as difficult. The obtained results, together with the analysis of the relevant literature, indicate a significant relationship between the level of emotional intelligence and the level of parental stress, as well as a more adaptive perception of the relationship with the child. The findings may contribute to a better understanding of the psychological functioning of mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder and may indicate directions for therapeutic interventions aimed at developing emotional intelligence.
