Psychologiczne uwarunkowania postaw rodzicielskich rodziców dzieci ze spektrum autyzmu

Abstract

Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest psychologicznym uwarunkowaniom postaw rodzicielskich rodziców dzieci w spektrum autyzmu. Celem badań było określenie związku pomiędzy stylem radzenia sobie ze stresem, natężeniem i strukturą lęku,samooceną, a postawą rodzicielską u rodziców dzieciw spektrum autyzmu. Badaniami objęto 122 osoby, po 61 osób w grupie badawczej i kontrolnej. Zastosowano Skalę Postaw Rodzicielskich Plopy, Inwentarz Stanu i Cechy lęku STAI,Skalę Samooceny SES, Kwestionariusz Radzzenia Sobie w Sytuacjach Stresowych CISS. Rodzice dzieci z ASD mieli wyższy poziom lęku jako stanu i cechy od rodziców dzieci z grupy kontrolnej, częściej również prezentowali styl skoncentrowany na unikaniu w skali angażowanie się w czynności zastepcze. Dodatkowo w grupie rodziców dzieci z ASD, matki prezentowały styl skoncentrowany na emocjach. Nie odnotowano różnic w samoocenie pomiędzy grupą badaną a kontrolną, jednak dodatkowa analiza w grupie rodziców dzieci z ASD wykazała u matek istotnie niższy poziom samooceny niż u ojców. Analiza wyników badań wykazała, że style radzenia sobie ze stresem, oraz natężenie lęku jako stanu i cechy u rodziców dzieci z ASD ma wpływ na postawy rodzicielskie. U rodziców dzieci z ASD dominowały postawy rodzicielskie oparte na wymaganiu, niekonsekwencji i ochranianiu (efekt umiarkowany w przypadku ochraniania 0,50< d Cohena<0,080). Postawy te są skorelowane dodatnio ze stylem radzenia sobie ze stresem skoncentowanym na emocjach, unikaniu i angażowaniu się w czynności zastępcze, oraz ze wzrostem poziomu lęku rozatrywanego jako stan i cecha. Uzyskane wyniki pozwolą na lepsze zrozumienie funkcjonowania rodzin ze spektrum autyzmu, oraz identyfikację czynników wpływających na jakość relacji rodzic-dziecko z ASD.

This dissertation focuses on the psychological factors that shape parenting attitudes among parents of children on the autism spectrum. The goal of the study was to explore how coping styles during stressful situations relate to anxiety levels, self-esteem, and parenting attitudes in parents of children with ASD. The research involved 122 participants, split evenly with 61 in the study group and 61 in the control group. Various tools were utilized, including the Plopa Parenting Attitudes Scale, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (SES), and the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS). Findings revealed that parents of children with ASD experienced higher levels of both state and trait anxiety compared to those in the control group. They also tended to adopt an avoidance-oriented coping style more often, especially when it came to engaging in substitute activities. Interestingly, within the ASD parent group, mothers were more inclined to use an emotion-focused coping style. While there were no significant differences in self-esteem between the two groups, a closer look at the ASD parents showed that mothers had notably lower self-esteem than fathers. The results suggest that the coping styles and the intensity of both state and trait anxiety among parents of children with ASD play a significant role in shaping their parenting attitudes. These parents often displayed dominant attitudes characterized by demandingness, inconsistency, and overprotectiveness. These attitudes were positively linked to emotion-focused and avoidance-oriented coping styles, including the tendency to engage in substitute activities, as well as heightened anxiety levels, both as a state and a trait.The findings shed light on how families with children on the autism spectrum operate, helping us pinpoint the factors that affect the quality of parent-child relationships in ASD.
