The thesis concerns the severity of depressive symptoms and the level of generalized stress among chronically dialyzed patients, with particular emphasis on the psychological functioning of individuals undergoing renal replacement therapy. The aim of study was to access the level of depressive symptoms and stress, analyze the relationship between these variables, and examine thier associations with selected sociodemographic and clinical data. The study was conducted in a group of 58 dialyzed patients treated in dialysis center, using the Beck Depression Inventory BDI-II, the Stress Percepiton Questionnaire (KPS), and an original survey questionnaire, which included , among other things, data on the duration of dialysis therapy (in years), frequency of treatments, and type of renal replacment therapy. The results showed that 39.7% of the respondents obtained a score indicating at least mild severity of depressive symptoms. An elevated level of stress in realtion to KPS norm was not confirmed, however, a strong positive relationship was found between stress and the severity of depressive symptoms. The duration of dialysis therapty (seniority) was not significantly associated with the analyzed variables. Women obtained significantly higher BDI-II scores than men. The results indicate the monitor the psychological functioning of dialyzed patients.
