Badanie miało charakter ilościowy i korelacyjny. Przeprowadzono je wśród młodzieży z wykorzystaniem standaryzowanych narzędzi psychologicznych mierzących obraz ciała, samoocenę i objawy depresyjne.
The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between body image, self-esteem, and depressive symptoms among adolescents in early adolescence. It was assumed that the way young individuals perceive their bodies and evaluate themselves plays a significant role in their mental well-being. The theoretical part discusses the concepts of body image and self-esteem, their determinants, and their importance during adolescence. It also presents selected theoretical approaches and the issue of depression, including its classification and specificity in this developmental period. The empirical study was quantitative and correlational in nature. It was conducted among adolescents using standardized psychological measures assessing body image, self-esteem, and depressive symptoms. The analyses included descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The results indicate that a negative body image is associated with higher levels of depressive symptoms, while higher self-esteem serves as a protective factor. A significant relationship between body image and self-esteem was also confirmed. The findings highlight the importance of psychosocial factors in adolescent mental health and the need for preventive interventions supporting a positive self-image.
