Wyniki podkreślają kluczową rolę kompetencji osobistych w utrzymaniu abstynencji i mogą stanowić cenne wskazówki dla praktyki klinicznej, zwłaszcza w zakresie indywidualizacji terapii. | pl |
| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACE), self-esteem, and psychological resilience in relation to the maintenance of abstinence among women with alcohol dependence. The study was conducted with a group of 61 women (mean age: 49.18 years, SD = 11.16), of whom 90.2% were actively participating in therapy or Alcoholics Anonymous groups. The International Childhood Adverse Experiences Questionnaire (ACE-IQ), the Resilience Assessment Questionnaire (KOP-26), and the Multidimensional Self-Esteem Inventory (MSEI) were used to measure the variables. Data were collected through an original sociodemographic survey and an online form, and consent to participate was obtained through implied consent. Results from Spearman's rho correlation analysis showed no significant relationship between ACE and the length of abstinence, which deviates from most studies (Makaruk et al., 2018; Kalita, 2023) and may be due to strong positive selection (90.2% of participants in therapy/AA). Hypothesis H2 was partially confirmed: significant positive correlations were observed for overall self-esteem, popularity, self-control, self-acceptance, and physical attractiveness. Hypothesis H3 was also partially confirmed in the correlation analysis, but in the GLM model with a Gamma distribution, only personal competencies proved to be a significant predictor (Exp(B) = 1.081, p = 0.004), indicating that an increase in personal competencies by 1 point is associated with an increase in the length of abstinence by 8.1%.Limitations of the study included a small sample size (N = 61) and positive selection, which hindered the generalization of results to the entire population of women with alcohol dependence. The findings highlight the crucial role of personal competencies in maintaining abstinence and may provide valuable insights for clinical practice, particularly regarding the individualization of therapy. | en |
