The aim of this study was to analyse the psychosocial functioning of parents of adolescents addicted to psychoactive substances and to compare this group with parents of adolescents without addiction problems. The study was conducted using a diagnostic survey method among 142 parents of adolescents aged 12–18 years, recruited through online support groups for parents of adolescents with addiction problems and public social media groups. The research employed the DASS-21, WHO-5 and AUDIT questionnaires. The results showed that parents of addicted adolescents reported higher levels of depression, anxiety and stress, as well as lower levels of psychological well-being, compared to parents of adolescents without addiction problems. A higher level of risky alcohol use was also observed in this group. Furthermore, significant relationships were found between the analysed variables. The findings indicate that adolescent substance addiction is associated with a considerable psychosocial burden on parents. The results highlight the importance of addressing the psychological needs of parents of addicted adolescents in the process of family support and indicate the need for further research and the development of support interventions for this group. The study may contribute to a better understanding of the psychological situation of parents of adolescents with substance addiction and support the development of effective prevention and intervention programmes.
