Uzyskane wyniki potwierdzają wieloczynnikowy model uwarunkowań depresji w wieku rozwojowym oraz podkreślają rolę szkoły w zakresie wczesnej identyfikacji trudności i wzmacniania zasobów uczniów.pl
Depression and suicidal ideation among children and adolescents constitute one of the most serious challenges in contemporary public health, and the transition to adolescence is associated with increased vulnerability to emotional difficulties. The aim of this thesis was to determine the severity of depressive symptoms and to analyse their associations with selected risk and protective factors among pupils in grades 4-8 of primary school. The study involved 119 pupils, and the data were collected using the Children’s Depression Inventory CDI 2, the SENA System for the Assessment of Children and Adolescents, and an original questionnaire, with the hypotheses tested using non-parametric methods. The average severity of depressive symptoms was low, with some pupils showing markedly elevated scores. No differences were found with respect to gender, whereas significant variation was observed between grade levels. The severity of depressive symptoms was positively related to emotional and social difficulties and to problems in peer and family relationships, and negatively related to personal resources such as self-esteem and social competence. The findings support a multifactorial model of depression in the developmental period and highlight the role of the school in the early identification of difficulties and in strengthening pupils’ resources.en
