| pl |
| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study was to explore and interpret the emotional experiences of women in the postpartum period, with particular focus on stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. The study was qualitative in nature and was conducted among five women up to 12 months postpartum. A self- designed semi- structured interview was used, along with the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), the Mini- COPE Test, and the Sense of Stress Questionnaire (KPS). Analysis of the results showed that the women in the study experienced heightened emotional tension, overload, and fatigue, as well as periodic low mood, but did not exhibit severe symptoms of postpartum depression. The most frequently cited sources of stress were difficulties related to caring for the infant, sleep deprivation, and anxiety about the child’s health. The data also indicate a discrepancy between self- reported well- functioning and the actual level of emotional strain. Respondents downplayed their difficulties and strove to live up to the societal image of the “ideal mother”, which was linked to a fear of judgment. Support from loved ones and specialists proved to be a significant protective factor. The study results underscore the importance of a comprehensive assessment of women’s mental functioning after childbirth and the need for prevention and support for young mothers and their families. | en |
